Santa Clara announces disciplinary procedure for Morita

Clube dos Açores unhappy with statements by the Japanese midfielder

Santa Clara announced this Wednesday that an “internal disciplinary procedure” was instituted against Morita, thus reacting to statements by the Japanese midfielder, who complained, in an interview, that his transfer to Sporting was being made difficult. “… Santa Clara Açores – Futebol, SAD comes to refute their content and their publication in the sports press, stressing that basic rules such as being authorized to make statements to the media were not followed. This situation is being , therefore, the target of an internal disciplinary procedure”, it can be read.

In the same statement, the Azores club’s SAD denies Morita has refused to play against FC Porto on Monday. “To support the facts, the athlete took part in the training, alleging discomfort in the lower area of the foot, a problem that he said he brought from the commitments of the Japanese national team. Later, on the day of the game, he asked our coach, Mário Silva, not to be option in the game of the 28th round of the championship for the aforementioned issue, as I felt that I was not in a position to contribute to the match.”

Communication in full

“Following a news piece that contains an interview with our athlete Hidemasa Morita, in the newspaper “A Bola” of April 5, Santa Clara Açores – Futebol, SAD comes to refute their content and their publication in the sports press, underlining that basic rules such as being authorized to make statements to the media were not followed. This situation is therefore being subject to internal disciplinary proceedings.

We strongly reinforce that both the athlete and his representative must respect the Santa Clara institution. Because, on the other hand, our sports society has always treated the athlete in an exemplary manner, as well as all others who are linked to us.

In the same way, our sports society comes to clarify a news item in the newspaper “Record” this Wednesday, April 6th, which forces the narrative that he refused to play, when he went to FC Porto, last Monday -fair. To support the facts, the athlete joined the training alleging discomfort in the lower part of the foot, a problem that he said he brought from the commitments of the Japanese national team. Later, on the day of the game, he asked our coach, Mário Silva, not to be an option in the game of the 28th round of the championship due to the aforementioned issue, since he felt that he was not in a position to contribute to the match.

Returning to the interview given by the athlete, the fact that he speaks of a «block» does not correspond to the truth, since the representatives of Santa Clara Açores – Futebol, SAD only proactively seek to listen to the interests of all parties involved, being to be superiorly considered and treated all possible proposals. This is how it will be in all scenarios and always putting Santa Clara first above any particular issue.

Since the interest in the athlete was made public by the media, the administration of Santa Clara Açores – Futebol, SAD is carefully considering and evaluating all proposals that reach him or any other linked to us. This proposal, in particular, is also a reason for analysis and development by our Board of Directors, taking into account, as always, the interests of the athlete, but reinforcing once again that Santa Clara’s best interests come first.”
