While the third chapter, entitled “Language”, came in three chapters, the first deals with “development and renewal in the language at the lexical and morphological levels, and it sheds light on the use of terms and vocabulary of communication networks in the modern Arabic novel, and the multiplicity of languages in the single narrative text, using another language in The text, in addition to the Arabic language, deals with the bilingualism between the classical and the colloquial, and the use of the so-called “Arabizi”, or “the Arabic language”. In his introduction to the book, Al-Mashaaleh says that he seeks in this book to search for the features of development and renewal, which appeared with the emergence of social networks, and their reflection on the Arab novel, by addressing three models of the novelist, where she used the descriptive analytical approach seeking to describe the expressive Arabic novel On social networks as shown by the studied models at the narrative and rhetorical levels, and reveal the features of development and renewal in them.
The author shows that he followed in this study a new narrative path, which appeared with the emergence of social networks, and the novels of this path had features that distinguished them from novels that did not take from these networks a narrative content, such as the emergence of the hashtag in the title structure, and the emergence of emojis. As auxiliary structures to the linguistic structure or parallel to it, the characterization of the personality by the absence of physical presence, place, time and instantaneousness, the emergence of vocabulary coming from the field of social networks, as well as the overlapping of the verbal and colloquial levels, the emergence of repetition in letters, punctuation marks and question marks, and other features of development and renewal in Arabic novel.
Al-Mashaleh says this book examines the Arabic novel, which is reflected in its construction and expressed the image of social networks, as it presents a narrative style and a new form of the modern Arab novel, and aims to show the most important features of development and renewal taking place in this novelist style using social networks and images of emerging relationships. about it in all its narrative components.
The author points out that the last decades of the two century witnessed a tremendous revolution in the field of communications and information technology, which had the greatest impact on the multiplicity and diversity of communication networks, and made them available to everyone, which contributed to facilitating the process of communication between large numbers of users of these networks, in all All over the world, where communication sites are tools for exchanging ideas and points of view, which may contribute to building a variety of relationships and different human experiences between the users of these sites. Influenced by its new environment, which was reflected in all the components of the narrative construction in it, including “place, time, characters, narration, and others.”
Al-Mashaaleh believes that these networks were able to expand in the narrative text at the level of discourse, story and narrative techniques, including description, dialogue, and fictional characters, so they came to absorb the features of social networks, which made the reader stand in front of building a new novelist not at the level of human experiences transmitted only, but at the level of presenting The elements of the novel and its formation in different ways within the body of the novel, and the matter of studying it and monitoring its most prominent features has become inevitable for critics and students of modern literature, especially after the emergence of many Arab novel works that dealt with these relations, so they came with digital contents that affect social networks while being paper novels, and among these The works that will be covered in the study are examples of application to it, such as the novel “Virtual Female”, by Dr. Fadi Al-Mouj Al-Khudair, the novel “Love from the First Click” by the Algerian Dr. Mariam Nariman Nomar, and the novel “Zakir Al-Shad” by the Tunisian writer Fathia Ben Faraj.
